Oral History Center offers Podcasting workshop
PITTSFIELD, MA – A two-part podcasting workshop will be offered by the Housatonic Heritage Oral History Center at Berkshire Community College, in Pittsfield, during 90-minute morning sessions on June 6 and 13. Reinout Van Wagtenduk, formerly U.S. correspondent for BNR Nieuwsradio and other Dutch radio outlets, and locally, creator of Accents, a podcast and column featuring stories of local immigrants, in the Berkshire Eagle, will lead the workshop.
The workshop will be hands on and participants will be asked to bring their podcast idea to the first session.
- Thursday June 6 – 10:30 AM to Noon – During the first session, they will learn about audio storytelling, listen to podcasts selected by Van Wagtenduk, and begin to understand how to create compelling stories with sound.
- Thursday June 13 – 10:30 AM to Noon – During the second session, participants will use their own audio recorded interviews to begin to create their podcasts. They will learn how to set up their projects in Audacity, and begin to organize their material.
If enough participants wish to continue, a third session may be organized.
This workshop is limited to 10 participants and is free of charge. Oral History practitioners, and BCC faculty, staff, and students will have priority in registration. Please call 413-236-1025 for more information or to register.
